  • 16 one bed flats situated in Spital Tongues near the St Mary Magdalene & Holy Jesus Trust sheltered housing complex
  • Each flat has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom
  • 4 blocks of flats each comprising 4 flats (2 ground and 2 first floor level)
  • We encourage residents to maintain their independence in accordance with their abilities and wishes
  • Residents of Magdalene Court who require assistance with personal care and domestic support access these services following an assessment of need by the local authority with care delivered by external care agencies

Appointment Criteria

  • Allocated to couples or single persons who are in need, hardship or distress who have lived in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne and the surrounding area for not less than 2 years preceding the receipt of benefit or for not less than 10 consecutive years at any one time
  • In exceptional circumstances, a resident who lives outside of the area of benefit or who has not lived in the area of benefit for the required number of years but is otherwise qualified may be appointed. The number appointed under this arrangement must not exceed one third of the number of residents at any one time
